BoardRoom magazine is now in its 28th year of publication for the private club industry and we want to sincerely thank our readers, our advertisers and contributors for their continued support and belief in our vision of educating board members, general managers and private club staff.
“Replace emotion with fact,” is our motto and it will continue to be as we encourage private clubs, their boards and senior management to travel down the path of collaborative governance, for the betterment of each private club.
BoardRoom magazine is the only publication of its kind that is designed to educate the board of directors, owners, general managers and department heads of private golf, city, yacht, athletic and country clubs about issues concerning all aspects of the club, golf course management and operations. The magazine is distributed through paid subscriptions to clubs, organizations and businesses throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Oceania and Asia.

This recognition is the Hallmark of Excellence. Distinguished Clubs is the only merit-based award program that recognizes private clubs and their management for outstanding delivery of exceptional Member Experience. Since we began the Distinguished Clubs award program, we have conducted over 500 in-person onsite survey visits and, along the way, have personally interviewed several thousand general managers and leadership staff.
DISTINGUISHED GOLF DESTINATIONS
The only merit-based award program that recognizes resorts, semi private, daily fee or public golf courses and their management for outstanding delivery of an Exceptional Golf Experience.
BOARDROOM INSTITUTE
The mission of BoardRoom Institute is to help clubs operate efficiently by optimizing the relationship between the volunteers and the paid executives through collaborative governance. Certification through BoardRoom Institute shows private clubs how they can operate through collaborative governance, so they can govern in most efficient and effective manner to optimize the membership's investment. If boards of directors govern their clubs the way they should, the clubs will operate with the least investment while obtaining the highest results. The Return On the Member's Equity (ROME©) is highest when private clubs are governed through collaborative governance.
ASSOCIATION OF PRIVATE CLUB DIRECTORS (APCD)
APCD’s main goal is to inspire and support Excellence in Board Governance among board members, staff and leadership. APCD believes that effective board leadership and governance requires an ongoing commitment to board development and to a healthy board / staff relationship. We work to effect positive change with Club Boards and their committees. It sounds basic, but one of the fundamental challenges that far too many board members and boards have, is that they don’t have a strong understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
