September 27, 2022

Stone Group Architects (SGA) is excited to announce the launch of its new Division of Club Development with Lawrence J. “Skip” Avery, CCM, CCE, at the helm as new Division Director.

SGA’s vision is to bring to the club industry its philosophy and purpose - to positively impact people and place. The firm is dedicated to providing a client-focused approach to design through a culture of caring, compassion and understanding. Rooted in honesty, integrity and purposeful design, SGA is committed to building long-term relationships with clubs nationwide.

Avery brings more than 35 years of club management to his new role, having served also as a Past President of CMAA. For the last 10 years, he was an Executive Vice President with H. Chambers Company where he facilitated strategic and facilities planning programs. He also offered guidance to clubs for how to improve their day-to-day operations.

Partnering with the new SGA Division of Club Development will be T3 Club Solutions. A consulting firm managed by industry veteran Ted Thie, T3 delivers full-service planning to implementation for private clubs.

According to Thie, SGA Club Development will impact the way country, city, golf and athletic clubs look at master planning, programming, and implementation of their projects.

“Skip Avery has more than 35 years of experience in the club industry, and Stone Group Architects is an incredibly talented firm that understands how to deliver what each club is looking for. Quality – on time – on budget, and 100 percent manageable, usable spaces,” said Thie. “I am excited to be working with them.”

The SGA Division of Club Development will officially launch Sept. 1.
