After 39 remarkable years in the private club industry, Jim Hope, CCM, CCE, has announced his retirement, effective May 2, 2025. A respected and passionate leader, Hope leaves behind a legacy defined by hospitality, professionalism, and deep commitment to club culture.

Hope most recently served as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of The Derrick Golf and Winter Club in Edmonton, Alberta, where he led with distinction for more than eight years. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at two of Calgary’s most respected clubs—Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club and Earl Grey Golf Club. Across each role, he cultivated teams, strengthened operations and championed exceptional member experiences.

Throughout his career, Hope helped elevate the private club experience wherever he went. “The best part of this journey has always been the people,” he shared. “From the teams I’ve had the honor to work with, to the members we served, I’ve learned something from every interaction, and for that, I’m truly grateful.”

Hope’s approach to leadership has always been rooted in full engagement. He believes excellence begins with presence, showing up with passion, listening well and leading with heart. His legacy is one of service, relationships, and a deep understanding of what makes club communities thrive.

As he steps into retirement, Hope reflects not just on what he’s accomplished, but on what he’s received: a lifetime of meaningful connections and the joy of being part of a community that values tradition, innovation, and people. “This business has given me everything I could ask for—purpose, friendship and the opportunity to be part of something that truly matters.”

Jim Hope’s presence in the industry will be missed, but his impact will remain—a steady example of thoughtful leadership and a career lived with purpose.
