Heather Arias de Cordoba, an award-winning marketing leader and seasoned veteran of the private club industry, has been appointed as the new editor of BoardRoom magazine. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Arias de Cordoba brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and a forward-thinking vision to the publication.
For the past decade, Arias de Cordoba has served as associate editor and chief content officer of BoardRoom magazine, playing an instrumental role in driving the growth of the magazine’s digital presence and social media engagement. Her contributions have elevated the publication's influence within the private club industry, aligning with its mission to educate and inspire club leaders worldwide.
Now, under Arias de Cordoba’s leadership as editor, co-publisher, and part owner, BoardRoom magazine remains the trusted resource for general managers, boards, board chairs, and committee members of private clubs. BoardRoom was, still is, and will continue to be the number one publication for the private club industry.
“Heather and David White, BoardRoom’s editor emeritus, have been my partners with BoardRoom for over 23 years,” said John Fornaro, publisher of BoardRoom magazine and CEO of Distinguished Clubs. “Heather is an energetic and award-winning marketing leader with a deep passion for the private club industry. I chose Heather as a partner and part owner of BoardRoom because of her integrity, work ethic, and respect for the industry and its club managers. She has a talent for masterminding campaigns that deepen relationships, which help clubs elevate the member experience and bring about a positive club culture. Heather clearly understands the complexities private club managers face, and I’m excited to see her take BoardRoom to new heights.”
Arias de Cordoba’s vision for BoardRoom builds on its legacy as the leading resource for the private club industry. She envisions the publication becoming the number one curator for private club content online, housing more than a decade of digital BoardRoom content in a robust, search-friendly platform. The new website will include sections such as Innovative Ideas for Clubs, ClubTalk Podcasts, Insight Exchange for vendors and clubs, Alliance Insights for partner associations, and eventually the launch of the BoardRoom Foundation.
The BoardRoom Foundation will further the publication’s educational mission by providing scholarships for hospitality students and interns, ensuring the private club industry continues to thrive with a new generation of leaders.
Arias de Cordoba steps into the editor role following the remarkable tenure of Dave White, who has served as editor of BoardRoom magazine for the past 22 years. White has been a steadfast advocate for the publication’s mission and a mentor to Arias de Cordoba throughout her career.
“Heather’s deep understanding of the private club industry and her creative approach to marketing and storytelling make her the perfect person to take the helm,” said White. “She is knowledgeable, passionate, and ready to lead BoardRoom into the future.”
Arias de Cordoba’s career in the private club industry began in Calgary, Alberta, where she met John Fornaro more than 30 years ago. The two fellow Canadians first worked together in the late 1990s when Arias de Cordoba managed the Professional Club Marketing Association (PCMA) newsletter. The association was founded by Fornaro, along with Distinguished Clubs president Keith Jarrett and private club veterans Rick and Donna Coyne. Shortly after, Arias de Cordoba became co-publisher, partner and part-owner of BoardRoom magazine, marking the start of a long and successful partnership.
As an exceptional storyteller and communicator, Arias de Cordoba has engaged vendors and clubs with innovative ideas and events that foster loyalty and elevated brands. Her award-winning designs and marketing campaigns have increased market share, strengthened brand identities, and created memorable connections.
Arias de Cordoba credits her success to a collaborative and people-focused leadership style. “I believe in empowering people, fostering collaboration, and aligning teams with shared objectives,” she said. “Effective communication is at the heart of inspiring leadership, which inspires meaningful storytelling and unforgettable experiences.”
Her positive outlook, commitment to excellence, and passion for the private club industry have positioned her as a trusted partner and visionary leader. As editor, Arias de Cordoba will build on BoardRoom magazine’s 29-year history, ensuring it remains an invaluable resource for private clubs and their leaders.
“I am honored to lead BoardRoom into this next chapter,” said Arias de Cordoba. “Together with our team, we will continue to provide thought-provoking insights, innovative ideas, and resources that support the private club industry. My goal is to ensure BoardRoom remains the go-to resource for club leaders.”
